Iraqi Kurdistan supports Haiti

19-01-2010
Erbil - For the first time, Iraqi Kurds launched a campaign to collect money for the UN to support the victims of last week’s devastating earthquake in Haiti.

Today, the city of Slemani started the campaign to collect money to support the victims of the earthquake. With this money, Kurdish charity organizations and the government want to support the Haitian people. Tomorrow other cities, like Duhok and Erbil will collect money for the victims. The Kurdish government will also contribute to the donation, which will be used by the United Nations to support the victims of the disaster

This is the first time the Kurdistan Region contributes to an international campaign to support victims of a disaster. It’s unclear yet, how many money the Iraqi Kurds are going to contribute(Photo: Foxtoledo).
