HPG: TO THE PRESS AND THE PUBLIC

HPG Online 10.12.2009 - The HPG statement on the Tokat Action "The Action in Tokat is a Retaliation Action, which has been carried out by one of our units one its own initiative. Our organizations’ decision to adopt a ‘Non-Action’ period since April, 2009, the Turkish State Army continuously carrying out operations against our forces for the purpose of destruction, the policies of oppression and suppression on the Kurdish people and democratic institutions, and the attacks against our leader APO’s life and living conditions have been, not eased at all, but as a matter of fact increased."

In this context, in retaliation of the recent military operations against our guerrillas in the areas of Gabar and Cudi, the slaughter of a young patriot named Aydin Erdem in the city of Amed, and the policies of the death-pit against our leader Abdullah Ocalan, one of our unit belonging to the Dersim Region, without any instruction given by the HPG Central Command, carried out an action in retaliation against the unit of soldiers belonging to the Turkish state army on 7th of December, 2009, in the area of Sazak/Resadiye/Tokat. As a result, one special sergeant and 6 soldiers, a total of 7 soldiers, were killed and 3 soldiers wounded.

During, our unilateral Non-Action Period, our forces showed great sensitivity and a common sense in the face of all sorts of attack carried out by the TC System (Turkish State Republic). However, what should be understand is that our legitimate defence force, the HPG Guerrillas, is very concerned about our leader and martyrs. If there is such a concern regarding about our leader and our martyrs, each unit has the right to use its own initiative.
