London (KurdishMedia.com) October 2009: The Kurdistani community in London demonstrate against the sacking of over 2000 civil servants for not voting for the PUK and KDP coalition and for Massoud Barzani in the last Kurdistani elections of 25 July 2009.
In the last elections for the Kurdistan President and for the members of the Kurdistan Parliament, any civil servants who are "found guilty" of not voting for the Kurdistani List, PUK and KDP coalition, and for Massoud Barzani, the president of Kurdisan, were sacked from their positions; their salaries and benefits were cut. These people are now living in poverty, and may develop serious illnesses during the current harsh Kurdistan winter.
The Kurdistani community in the UK and their friends protest in front of the Downing Street to handover a petition to the British PM, as a protest against the PUK, KDP and KRG and also to support the voters who chose to vote for the parliamentary group that they thought it would improve their living conditions, but instead found themselves guilty and lost their jobs.
Observers regard this as a serious constitutional breach by the KRG and the two political groups in it.
Venue: Downing Street, London SWA AA
