Erbil - Kuwait is prepared to open a consulate in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq as the first Arab country, says a Kuwaiti Parliamentarian exclusively to Rudaw.
“We have talked to our Foreign Ministry and they decided to open a Kuwaiti consulate in Erbil within two or three months,” says Waleed Al-Tabtabai during his visit to Kurdistan Region.
The popular Kuwaiti MP further adds: “The main reasons for the opening of the consulate is to promote trade, political, cultural, tourism and sports relations between the State of Kuwait and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Kuwait’s ambassador to Iraq, Ali Al-Mamoun also supports the idea of deepening the relations between Kuwait and Kurdistan. “We will soon open a direct aviation link between Kuwait and Erbil to ease transportation between both cities,” he tells Rudaw exclusively.
